Labuan Airport During COVID-19
12th February 2021 - After we bid farewell to my sister in law who is going to move in with her husband which is my oldest brother who lived and worked at Johor, I took a good walk around the Labuan Airport to take some pictures of the environment. As we all knew, airports are amongst the busiest places on earth that should be bustling with crowds who are going to or just came back from both domestic and international flights.
But it was different after the COVID-19 outbreak started in the year of 2020 which is last year. Airline industries are heavily affected by the outbreak, resulted in many of their employees are forced to be fired due to the decline number of passengers, followed by the banning of international flights from foreign countries started with Wuhan, China where the pandemic was originated from.
AirAsia was the first Malaysian airline company that took action to ban their international flights from China during the Pakatan Harapan government in 2020. And now the company are amongst the large companies that are affected by the economic downturn due to the resources being used in order to fight against COVID-19.

According to the S.O.P. given before travelling across the country, we are needed to request an official letter from the nearby police stations as proof that we are allowed to travel but with strict regulations and also to undergo a swab test at least a day before the date of travel. Luckily my sister in law fulfilled all of the strict requirement and are allowed to take a flight and travel to Johor to meet up with my brother there. They just got married last year when the R naught was much more stable and number of new positive daily cases were below the lowest average. Surely the newlyweds missed each other as they are separated by distance. Hopefully everything will go smooth and my sister in law would reached her destination safely and healthy there inshaAllah.
