Labuan International Sea Challenge 2023

The Labuan International Sea Challenge (LISC 2023), one of the main & large annual celebrations in the Pearl of Borneo every year. Awaited by many and draws huge crowds into the island, ranging from domestic and international participations. Comprising a variety of water and non-water sports by the beach to attract visitors coming into the island throughout the event.

It is the second year for LISC after being postponed for two years due to Covid-19. Being the large event itself and listed in the Equator Asia (BIMP - EAGA) tourism calendar and national tourism calendar due to its potential under the National Water Fiesta Celebration and Malaysia Water Fiesta, LISC plays an important role in promoting the island of Labuan to whole Malaysia and internationally since its first edition in 1997.

Although Labuan is still under the travellers' radar despite the island being the second of the three Federal Government Territories in Malaysia on 1st February 1984, joint efforts by local government agencies and NGOs in organizing events such as LISC gave positive impacts especially in tourism, introducing Labuan besides of the island's known major role in international offshore financial centre and oil and gas industry.
